And: Use a meaningful H1/H2/…-structure which means you should have at least one H1 and if you want to use other levels (H2, H3,…) make sure of have at least two of them (in other words: you should have at least two H2 if you want to use it).
The Google Hummingbird algorithm update, which aims to provide a positive user experience, opens up a great opportunity for optimizing an H1 tag. A key feature of the Hummingbird algorithm is Google’s drive and ability to look past the keywords in a search query and extract the user’s intent. By understanding the search intent behind a target keyword query, an H1 can be crafted to speak directly to that intent. If Google agrees with your interpretation of the user’s intent and it is effectively communicated in the H1 tag, this can certainly lead to a ranking promotion.
The rationale is that the blog title may be actually less important for search purposes than the description, which ties into the purpose of the site and is probably more closely related to the meta description (and more importantly potential search terms), and so on. The blog title already gets weighted pretty heavily anyway because it’s in the header (with an h2 tag) and also in the title tag in the html head.
Every article gets two titles—the meta title and the on-page title (H1). These two titles can be exactly the same. But, if you’re struggling to balance SEO and creativity, you can make them subtly different. That said, they have to bear a family resemblance! As Rand Fishkin explains in this Whiteboard Friday, you don’t want your search user to see one title on Google, click it, then arrive at a page with a completely different title! Odds are, this person will feel confused or annoyed or think your site is broken—and leave. There needs to be continuity between the title that appears in search results and the title that appears on the page.
The h1 tag should contain your targeted keywords, ones that closely relate to the page title and are relevant to your content. The h2 tag is a subheading and should contain similar keywords to your h1 tag. Your h3 is then a subheading for your h2 and so on. Think of them as a hierarchy based on importance, the above being more important than the below.
If you’re using WordPress for your content management system (CMS) of choice, then you’re probably already using a great theme. In that case, your theme designer has set up an H1 style and you likely don’t need to do anything.
In fact, if you do a search on just about any popular keyword, you’ll likely see Page 1 of the search results populated with titles that follow that format. Take a look at the search results for “LCD TV Reviews” for some examples.
hey there, great info I did most of these changes.. but now i can’t find the #underheader text or “sitename” anywhere.. I’ve already opened teh style sheet and used “find” but nothing… you know why is it? Thanks!
The lost opportunity in this argument is that both sides tend to focus on the direct relationship between an H1 tag and its ability to help a page rank by including a keyword. What is not often mentioned is the effect an H1 headline has on other ranking factors and overall user experience. Whichever school of thought you subscribe to, it is important to look at the indirect ranking effect of the H1 tag.
Most people know how to look for advertised job openings, but finding H1B opportunities is another issue. Whether you’re looking online, in the newspaper, at trade shows or anywhere else you should remember that not all available jobs are advertised right now, and not all companies are willing to sponsor H1B visas. Changes in the economic environment, normal turnover and industry changes generate new positions every day. Some of these positions are offered through advertisement, but most jobs are filled by proactive submissions and networking methods (over 80% of jobs are filled before employers need to advertise).
Neglecting the rules of uniqueness and relevance of headings can lead to the fact that the site falls under the filter. Recently, search engines began to pay special attention to the quality of content and its SEO-settings. Doubles, oversampling, chaotic distribution of headers, their inconsistency with content is punished.
Thousands of jobs are posted on job boards BUT as a foreign national seeking an ‘H1B job’ in the USA, it’s important to remember that statisticly less than 1% of all jobs advertised on general job boards are posted by companies that will sponsor H1B visas – therefore, if you choose to use this method, be prepared that it will require a lot of your time and effort searching, filtering and applying and re-applying.
Using valid markup that contains no errors is important because syntax errors can make your page difficult for search engines to index. Run the W3C validation service whenever changes are made to your website’s code.

The main purpose of header tags is to deliver content in a reader-friendly format. Categorization by means of different heading styles would enable the reader to follow the flow of the article and understand it better. An outline format would also help in easy retrieval of content.
In case you are hungry of getting more relevant info, then do go to What I Wish Everyone Knew About Header Tags in SEO and read the stuff in there. It will make you more confident in using H1 , H2 tags , where, when and why?
For instance, if we hadn’t designated the font color for the #comments H2, then the color would be that of the parent H2, which is green. Be careful to list all the different attributes you want changed, and remember that the parent H2 will fill in any blanks you leave out.
If you tend to write long posts, using headings can separate the sections, announce a change in subject or just add a little artistic “space” or graphic element. Post section headings are created by you as you write your post. Generally, the h3 and h4 heading tags are used, though sometimes the h5 might also be included.
This is a calculation as to how much html code is used verses how much readable text is available on your home page. Google likes clean code and and a good text to code ratio is between 20 to 30% of actual text to html code. This number may differ by industry and similar ranking verticals.
The presence or lack of H1s and H2s impacts the behavior of site visitors. And as a consequence, search engines use this text (or lack thereof) to help determine what a site is about, and how well it should rank.
This is perhaps the simplest approach to solve the problem. It avoids more complicated hacks that may have style dependency issues like if you were to give the H1 tag a fixed width or your line break item a float.
Usually for good schools, they require GMAT/ GRE and TOEFL. There are some schools that may accept IELTS as well. I always recommend taking standardized tests and going to better school rather than trying to cut corner and go to schools that are not with proper standards.
Sitemaps enable search engins and users to navigate to the sections of the site they want to be in. An XML sitemap however is used exclusively by search engines to accurately map the exact locations of all pages. Most modern CMS systems have the ability now to automatically generate XML sitemaps that can be submitted to search engines.

Let’s face it, emigrating to a new Country obviously has a few challenges and obstacles to overcome. Here are the main ones. Knowing the challenges helps you determine how to successfully overcome them :
Yes, but not as important to the search engines as your H1 tag. Unlike the H1 tag, you may have multiple H2, H3, H4, H5, and H6 sub-headings. Think of these sub-headings as ways of organizing the content on your page for your readers more than for the search engines. These headings should also contain important keywords and help organize your content into sections, so readers can scan your page and decide if it’s something they’re interested in reading.

Title is also a page header, but it is prescribed not only for people, but also for robots. It is displayed not in the page itself, but only in the browser tab and in the snippet as the active link to the site. In fact, the title is an alternative, but the main header for the html document. If it is absent, the search engine takes as a basis h1 and uses it in the sickle.
In spite of how optimized most WordPress themes are for search engines, there are still a few behind-the-scenes tweaks that webmasters can do to make their sites even more SEO-effective.  I recently discovered one easy-to-implement WordPress hack that might come in handy for some Fathom Blog readers.
Your H1 tag should be at the top of the page content (above any other heading tags in the page code). If your site is divided in to columns the left column may appear “higher” in the code. Be sure it does not contain any H1 tags as most likely the center column contains the main content of the page.
All in all, when focusing on on-page optimization in 2016, it is absolutely still valuable to spend some time and attention on the H1 tag. While the H1 tag might not have a direct impact on SEO, there are still indirect benefits – including better user experience, which is good for SEO in the long ru.
